✝️ Unshaken identity in Christ

by Her True Worth

Hello friend! In today's hustle and bustle, it's easy to lose sight of who we truly are. Our identity is not rooted in our jobs, relationships, or successes. As Christians, our true identity is found in Christ. This week, let's dive deep into what that truly means and how it can transform our everyday lives.

Let the Word of God transform you.

🙏 Prayer of the Week

Dear God,

Help us to understand and embrace our identity in You. When the world tells us we aren't enough or tries to define us by its standards, remind us that we are chosen, loved, and set apart by You. Allow us to walk in the fullness of who we are in Christ, and let our actions and words be a reflection of that truth. In Jesus' name, amen.

In Jesus' name, amen.

📖 Weekly Scripture

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." –Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

🔦 Devotional Spotlight

One of the most profound truths we can grasp as believers is our identity in Christ. When Paul writes in Galatians that he has been "crucified with Christ," he speaks to the transformative power of Jesus in our lives. It's a statement of surrender and rebirth. Our old selves, with all its sins and past mistakes, are buried with Christ, and we are resurrected as new creations, with a new identity rooted in Him.

This doesn't mean we won't face challenges or moments of doubt. But it does mean that in every situation, we can approach it with the knowledge that Christ is living within us. Our worth is not determined by societal standards, but by the immeasurable love of the One who sacrificed everything for us.

Every day, as we live out our faith, we are called to remember and embody this new identity. By doing so, we become beacons of hope, grace, and love to those around us, pointing them towards the transformative power of Christ.

In Christ, we are made new, the old has gone, and the new has come.

Below is list of what God says about you. It’s not exhaustive but it’s a great start. This is what your Creator says about you:

  • Children of God: Through faith in Christ, we are adopted into God's family as His children (John 1:12; Romans 8:15-17).

  • Forgiven: Our sins are forgiven, and we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus (Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14).

  • Redeemed: We are bought back from the slavery of sin and death (Galatians 3:13; Ephesians 1:7).

  • New Creations: In Christ, we are made new, the old has gone, and the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17).

  • Righteous: We are made righteous in Christ, not by our own works but by His grace (2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 3:22).

  • Loved: We are loved with an everlasting love by God Himself (Jeremiah 31:3; Romans 8:38-39).

  • Chosen: We are chosen by God, set apart for His purposes (Ephesians 1:4; 1 Peter 2:9).

  • Heirs with Christ: We are co-heirs with Christ, sharing in His inheritance (Romans 8:17; Galatians 4:7).

  • Temples of the Holy Spirit: Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who dwells in us (1 Corinthians 6:19).

  • Ambassadors for Christ: We are Christ's representatives on earth, called to reconcile others to Him (2 Corinthians 5:20).

  • Victorious: We are more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens us (Romans 8:37).

  • Light of the World: We are called to be the light of the world, reflecting Christ's light (Matthew 5:14).

  • Friends of Jesus: We are no longer servants but friends of Jesus (John 15:15).

  • Citizens of Heaven: Our citizenship is in heaven, and we await our Savior from there (Philippians 3:20).

  • Part of the Body of Christ: We are members of the body of Christ, each with unique gifts and roles (1 Corinthians 12:27).

  • Blessed with Every Spiritual Blessing: In Christ, we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 1:3).

💬 Quotes on Identity

Below are some quotes from bestselling book, Her True Worth by Brittany Maher & Cassandra Speer.:

  1. The Cross Defines Our Worth:
"The cross of Christ has already defined our worth from the beginning. God so loved us that he sent his Son to pay the price for our sins so that we can be called sons and daughters of God (John 3:16)."

  2. Putting on the New Self:
"To put on the new self. That means a new identity, with changed thinking. The new self is something we get when we are born again, but we have to put it on daily. The new self is an identity wrapped in righteousness and holiness, renewed in knowledge after the image of our Savior."

  3. Our Lives Hidden in Christ:
"Our lives are hidden in him (Colossians 3:3). In Christ, the lost are found, the broken are redeemed, and what the Enemy tries to abolish, Jesus comes to redeem and restore. Beloved, you're not too dirty or too broken for the healing and redemptive love that is found in God through Christ Jesus."

“The authors’ empathy is palpable, and they are refreshingly candid in admitting their struggles to live by their own advice, such as when Speer asks readers if they have changed themselves to win others’ approval and responds, “This is where I slowly raise my hand and admit, I have.” This kindhearted volume has a lot to offer.” –Publisher’s Weekly
